Compounded Sublingual Semaglutide

Compounded Sublingual Semaglutide is compounded in our pharmacy using a commercially available product and a liquid base designed to deliver medications like semaglutide sublingually which is a fancy way of saying under the tongue, through the oral mucosa.

FAQs

What does it mean that it's compounded?

The FDA defines drug compounding as the process of combining, mixing or altering ingredients to create a medication tailored to the needs of an individual patient. We use a commercially available medication with a liquid base specially formulated to deliver medications like semaglutide through the oral mucosa.

What does sublingual mean?

It means under the tongue. CSS is a liquid medication that you will take and hold under your tongue for at least 90 seconds every day and then swallow. It is absorbed through the oral mucosa and the longer it is in contact with that surface, the better.

How much does each cost?

If you utilize our Telehealth services, compounded sublingual semaglutide starts at $160/month.

Will insurance cover either medication?

We do not bill insurance for compounded medications.

What's the difference between CSS and Ozempic?

The active ingredient in both is semaglutide. Ozempic is a manufactured medication that is delivers semaglutide in an injection. CSS is compounded and delivers the medication sublingually. CSS doesn’t have to be refrigerated, isn’t facing the shortages that Ozempic and the like are and doesn’t involve a needle.

What to Eat and Drink While Taking Semaglutide

Emphasize Protein

Protein intake can help preserve lean muscle mass during weight loss. Clinical guidelines recommend 20–30 grams of protein per meal for most adults.

Stay Hydrated

Semaglutide may slow gastric emptying, increasing the risk of constipation and nausea. Drinking at least 64 oz of water daily supports digestion and overall hydration.

Eat Smaller Meals

Due to delayed gastric emptying, smaller, more frequent meals can reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Patients often report improved tolerance with smaller portion sizes.

Limit Fatty or Sugary Foods

High-fat or high-sugar meals may increase nausea while on GLP-1 medications. A diet low in ultra-processed foods may reduce side effects and support glucose control.

Include Fiber

Soluble fiber supports healthy digestion and satiety. Gradually increasing fiber intake from fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains is recommended.
